Seth Hoff started swimming competitively at age 9 in Madison, Wi, when he was the slowest swimmer in the slowest lane at the local YMCA, and he loved every second of it! He swam in a summer league program, AAU, USS, high school and college, all in Madison. He moved to Chicago in 1986 to pursue a career in theatre, and began training and competing with the masters team the Chicago Smelts in 1993. He enjoys the challenges of all four competitive strokes, and has recently dabbled in longer distances by swimming the USMS Postal Swims for the past 3 years, and participating in the Swim Across America fundraiser event for the past two years in Lake Michigan. He has coached and taught on and off for many years, for the Chicago Smelts, at Old Willow in a summer league in the northern suburbs, for New Trier Swim Club, and at the Chicago Athletic Clubs. A certified instructor in Pilates and yoga, technique and body alignment have always interested him in helping his fellow swimmers get the most out of their strokes in order to help them get more fit, healthy, and focused through swimming.
