Michaela’s fitness journey began back in 2015 as a college student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After trying a group strength and cardio class for the first time and feeling absolutely exhausted, she thought, “There’s no way I’m coming back here.” But she did, and each week she began to love hearing the encouragement and guidance of the instructor, being motivated by all the other members around her doing the same exercises, and feeling stronger and more successful each time she completed a workout. From then on, throughout college and then as a graduate student at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, group fitness became a place where Michaela could go to decompress, tune in to the instructor’s guidance, and tune out the everyday stresses of academic life. After graduating from graduate school in 2020, Michaela sought certification in group fitness in order to create an environment where others can hopefully find those same feelings of respite and self-growth that she found as a group fitness student. In addition to being a certified group fitness instructor, Michaela holds a master’s degree in speech-language pathology and works full time as a pediatric speech-language pathologist. She also holds an undergraduate degree in vocal performance and enjoys participating in musical theater and choir performances.
