Ryan2Introduction
"Mind and body are connected” is a phrase I would sometimes hear from coaches, teammates, teachers, and the like when I was growing up. I didn’t really understand this phrase until I started to work out consistently in my senior year of high school and even now I am still learning about the depth of that phrase.

For much of my early life I was not as interested in sports like many of my friends were. I had done some little league baseball as a kid and a season of football in seventh grade, but as I grew older, my interests moved more towards the arts: acting, singing, writing, and more. But I still didn’t feel comfortable in my own skin. I was self-conscious. I always felt that my body was too this, or too that in certain areas. My self esteem was not high.

This started to change in my senior year of high school when I took a weightlifting class and was now working out consistently. I felt my self-esteem begin to rise, my demeanor change, and my overall confidence increase. Through exercise, I was able to relieve my stress and anxiety, strengthening both my body and my mind. I was now beginning to understand the phrase “mind and body are connected” and how much one impacts the other. As one improved, so did the other.

This is what I want to bring to you and our sessions. I see fitness not just as a way to help one improve their physical health, but their mental and emotional health, as well. I am still working on my own journey to strengthen both my mind and body through fitness and want to help
