Strength classes at Chicago Athletic Clubs

No matter what your goals are, strength training is part of your program! Weight training classes and strength classes provide an essential component to a complete workout regimen.  Weight training and weight lifting help sculpt and tone muscles, promote weight loss, prevent injury and strengthen bones.  Our strength classes provide an instructed and regimented weight lifting option that is great for all levels of fitness.  You are gonna be so strong.

Abs & Arms

Build strength in your upper body, sculpt long lean muscles and whittle your waistline with a  variety of exercises designed to lengthen, tone and improve posture. Lighter weights and higher reps plus some traditional strength training techniques are used.

Aerial Cardio + Strength

Do you want to get stronger without lifting weights? This class is a hard core workout to build core, arm and leg strength. This class uses your own body weight and the hammock to get you (or keep you) in top athletic shape. Join us for this creative and fun alternative for physical fitness. Anyone can do it and no experience is required. Ballet Burn

Raise the bar on your workout. Ballet Burn is a results driven fitness class utilizing hand weights and ballet based movement to create lean lines and improve flexibility and posture. No experience, or barre needed.


Designed to effectively strengthen, tone and balance the entire body, these are fat burning workouts that integrate the use of the ballet barre and various props. Each class includes several highly effective sequences of toning and resistance exercises with an emphasis on the core, arms and lower body. These are challenging, no impact classes that produce maximum results.

BOSU® Bootcamp

Condition, shape and strengthen your body during this hour of core, resistance and energy system development. The BOSU Balance Trainer will be used for high-intensity intervals and muscle-building drills to increase your mental and physical strength and prepare you for the demands of life.

Cardio BOSU® Training

Anything goes during this endurance focused, BOSU-based, full body meltdown. Metabolism-boosting drills are combined with upper-body strength intervals for an intense hour of total body training.

Cardio Sculpt

Target all the major muscle groups, strengthen your core, burn calories and improve your cardio fitness. This class focuses on compound exercises, using a variety of equipment, to build strength and keep you on the move.


CXWORXTM- Six tracks to a six pack. Looking for a short, sharp workout that will inspire you to the next level of fitness, while strengthening and toning your body? CXWORX is for you! CXWORX really hones in on the torso and sling muscles that connect your upper body to your lower body. It is ideal for tightening your tummy and butt, while also improving functional strength and assisting in injury prevention.

Full Body Blast

Thirty minutes of body blasting muscular endurance and toning with only one piece of equipment: the Body Bar. A full-effective stand-alone workout as well as a complement to any cardio class.

Functional Strength & Stretch

Experience more energy and less injury through body awareness. Through smooth, rhythmic motion, release tight muscles and develop more functional movement patterns for health and performance. Learn to move your body from your core and improve your posture and balance. This class is appropriate for all fitness levels and is great for postnatal women, new exercisers, mature population, post rehab and athletes

GRIT™ Plyo

LES MILLS GRIT Plyo is a plyometric-based workout that delivers fast results! Combining the principles of explosive plyometrics and power agility training, you’ll build a powerful, agile and athletic body.

GRIT™ Strength

Using barbell, weight plate and body weight exercises, LES MILLS GRIT Strength is an intense 30-minute team training workout that will blast all major muscle groups and take your strength into another zone.

Hard Core

This class is centered around muscles in the back, abdominals and glutes. Engage in the newest and safest techniques. All levels are welcome.

R.I.S.E. & Shine

Get your butt outta bed, it’s time to work! Resistance, intervals, strength and endurance drills designed to burn calories and sculpt muscle. Always a fresh format to challenge any body.

Silver Cardio & Strength

Enjoy 30 minutes of fun, low impact cardio, 20 minutes of totally body strength, and extended 10 minute stretch.

Sports Conditioning

Cardio drills mixed with strength and agility exercises to improve flexibility, coordination, athletic  performance endurance and function.

Step & Sculpt

Tackle cardio and strength in a single workout. Step combos pump up your heart rate and torch calories. Toning exercises build lean muscle mass and firm where you burn. It’s a fast-paced, fun challenge that may even make you smile.

Studio Strength

It’s time to get functionally fit! This class uses a variety of equipment, along with body weight, to give YOUR body what it needs to be fit on every level. The body does not work in isolation so neither should your workout. We incorporate strength, heart rate, flexibility, agility, mobility, core, rotation, balance, and multiple planes of movement. We use variations on “basic” exercises, as well as working outside the box. Build endurance, get strong, get balanced.

Total Body Training

An endurance extravaganza! Sometimes a sport-specific circuit, sometimes a cardiovascular marathon — always a challenge. Improve strength, balance and agility utilizing the latest in exercise equipment and techniques.

Tread & Shred

Take your workout to the next level with this high intensity combo class of treadmill work and strength training. TRX is a class using the TRX Suspension Trainer, where the user’s hands or feet are supported by an anchor point, while the opposite end of the body is in contact with the ground. It trains strength, endurance, balance, coordination, flexibility, power and core stability all at once and across a wide range of resistance. The repertoire of unlimited, versatile exercises are geared to men and women of all fitness levels. This is the very definition of functional performance training.

Using the TRX Suspension Trainer, this express class offers support and mobility to train strength, balance, flexibility and core stability.

Yoga Sculpt

Yoga Sculpt is a modern form of yoga that combines Vinyasa Yoga, strength training, cardiovascular fitness and core work. This yoga class uses weights to strengthen the practice, while helping tone and shape the body. Burn calories, build stamina, increase strength and flexibility and increase lean muscle mass.

Zumba Toning

Zumba Toning blends body sculpting techniques with Zumba moves for a great calorie burning, strength-training combination. Maraca-like Zumba Toning Sticks are used to enhance rhythm, build strength and tone all the target zones.

  • Please note some classes require advance sign up at the Customer Service Desk to reserve a spot.
  • Please arrive on time for the warm-up and stay through the entire class.
  • Please inform instructors of any special considerations (pregnancy, diabetes, recent surgery, etc.). CAC recommends a physical examination before undertaking any exercise program.
  • Instructors will be substituted from time-to-time. Any substitutions, deletions or additions to the printed schedules will be posted at the front desk.
