Long before “working out” and “physical fitness” were part of the common vernacular, Maria was out riding her bike and ice skating and playing Keep Away with the boys on the playground, just because it was fun. She loved sports, and got pretty good at volleyball and broomball. Then she took her first aerobics class at a health club in the 1990s, and she was hooked. Maria became a certified Group Fitness Instructor in 1993. Ten years later, she added Spinning and Yoga Teacher certifications to her resume. She completed her Advanced Yoga Teacher training at Yogaview Chicago in April 2011. She is also certified to teach Yin Yoga and Prenatal yoga. Maria infuses her classes with passion, creativity, and a spirit of playfulness. She strives to challenge and inspire her students while emphasizing safe alignment and breath awareness. Music is an important aspect of the group fitness experience for Maria, and she spends a lot of time on her playlists. She is continually curious about ways to enhance health and wellness through nutrition, mind-body healing, and positive thinking, and enjoys passing on her knowledge and experience to others. In addition to Spinning and yoga, Maria is a certified KettleWorX trainer, a Schwinn Indoor Cycling MPower with Wattage instructor, and a Level 1 Reiki practitioner. In her spare time, she loves cooking, drinking craft beer, seeing living music, and hanging out with her kids in Southern California.
