Summer Playlist for Workout Motivation: Part I

There's nothing like music to motivate you when you're hitting that last set or sprinting that last quarter mile. It's an essential part of working out, and no one knows that better than our Chicago Athletic Clubs Personal Trainers and Group Fitness Instructors. That's why we got their favorite tunes together in one list for you! Full disclosure, there were so many that we had to break it up into two posts. Stay tuned for Part II next week!

Ready to get your summer started right?

This is perhaps the most challenging task ever… to pick one favorite song? THERE ARE SOOOOOO MANY! Here’s just one…

Ping Pong (Hardwell Remix)
Varying tempos, good for strength or speed. Great heavy beats. Build, then major beat drop for explosive energy. Great for spin, strength, treadmill workouts.

Sarah Ruhl - Chicago Athletic Clubs Group Fitness Director

Megan_Reiling.jpgMisery Business by Paramore- was my favorite band in highscool.
My HS track coach made me wear earbuds and keep running in tempo to this
while training for the 400 M dash. Cut 4 seconds off my time.
Super upbeat and still gets me pumped up to this day every time I hear it!

Megan Geiger - Specialist Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor

Cut to the Feeling - Carly Rae Jepson
I recently read a tweet that said "Carly Rae Jepson decides when Summer starts!" This song definitely got the season started early! It has it all - a sample of a classic (Lucky Star by Madonna), an upbeat chorus and lyrics that you can sing out loud in a spin class!

It's Not Right But Its Okay (Thunderpuss Remix) - Whitney Houston
This is one of my favorite workout songs of all time. It's Whitney at her absolute best. The song tells a story and the drama builds all the way to the end! I dare you not to go faster and feel empowered during that last chorus!

So fun! Mine is “You Don’t Know Me” by Jax Jones.
It’s such a fun, driving beat and makes me feel super sassy. ;)

I have lots but my all-time favs are:

Walk - Foo Fighters
This is the New Year – GLEE edition
I’m only Joking – KONGOS

Julie Speck - Group Fitness Manager: Lincoln Park, Lakeview & Webster Place

Carri Headshot.jpgThis is so fun! Here’s mine…
When I hear “Feel it Still” by Portugal. The Man, it is impossible for me to sit still!
My run gets faster and its keeps us groovin’ in the office too!
