Kid Swim Lessons in Chicago & Evanston
Swimming is an essential life skill that allows your child to stay safe near water and give you peace of mind each time they hit the pool. The Chicago Athletic Clubs' multiple, state-of-the-art pools offer many opportunities for lap swimming, group lessons, and private swim instruction. Our certified swim instructors in Chicago and Evanston work with individuals of every age and swim experience level. With some of the best instructors in Chicago your kids will be swimming laps in no time! These swim lessons are open to both CAC members and non-members. Currently CAC offers private swim lessons and Junior Swim Team for children.
Junior Swim Team
Children perfect strokes and work on endurance in this non-competitive swim team. Children should be able to swim 20 yards freestyle and 20 yards backstroke before registering for this class. Currently offered in Lincoln Square & West Loop for ages 6-14.

One-on-One Children's Swim Lessons
Whether your child is a total beginner, needs technique work, or is looking to improve the level of their swimming ability, one-on-one swim instruction allows you to tailor their swim experience. Our certified instructors will teach your child how to swim more effectively, increase speed and endurance, and overall have fun in the water.
Beginner to Advanced Children's Swim Lessons
The swim professionals at Chicago Athletic Clubs offer 4 different swim lesson options for you to choose from during enrollment:
Level 1: Water Fundamentals
It is never too early to get your child in the water. Our Water Fundamentals swim class is designed for children under the age of 5. This class involves the introduction of a fully submerged face, experiencing buoyancy, bubble blowing, front and back kicks, prone and supine push off and glide, safely entering and exiting the water. The Water Fundamentals student-to-teacher ratio is 4:1.
Level 1 Youth Class: Water Fundamentals
Level 1 Youth: Water Fundamentals is our beginning youth class for students ages 5-10. Students don’t require any knowledge of swimming. Parents DO NOT enter the water with their children. This class involves fully submerging face, experiencing buoyancy, bubble blowing, front and back kicks, prone and supine push off and glide, safely entering and exiting the water. The Level 1 Youth Water Fundamentals student-to-teacher ratio is 4:1.
Level 2: Stroke Development
When your child is ready to move up, they will graduate to Level 2: Stroke Development swim class. These lessons cover the combined arm and kick action, freestyle, backstroke, retrieve objects, jump and dive in deep water, tread water. The Level 2: Stroke Development swim class student-to-teacher ratio is 5:1.
Level 3: Stroke Improvement
Your child can perfect freestyle, backstroke, learn breaststroke, butterfly motion, endurance, treading, underwater swimming, and diving with our Level 3: Stroke Improvement swim lessons. The Level 3: Stroke Improvement swim student-to-teacher ratio is 5:1.
Please note that instructors reserve the right to move students if they are placed in an inappropriate class, even if that class is not convenient to your schedule. To avoid this inconvenience, please read level descriptions carefully and place your child in the appropriate class.
