Around water her entire life, Nichole began competitive swimming, year-round at the age of nine. A stand-out swimmer in high school, Nichole excelled at the middle distance freestyle events, 200 free and 500 free, and achieved several all-time top ten times at her school. Nichole was recruited and swam for a year at Ball State University, before hanging up her cap and goggles to pursue a degree in landscape architecture. Never one to be far from the pool, Nichole joined the water polo team and competed in the club circuit for three years. Following college, Nichole became involved with triathlons and has competed in over fifteen races. Nichole is always one of the first triathletes out of the water in her wave, has six top-ten age group finishes to her credit and has qualified for the USAT Age Group Nationals.
Nichole has been swimming with the WAC Masters Team since 2010. Since her competitive swimming return, Nichole has achieved several national qualifying time standards, is a top three finisher at the IL masters state meets as well as in open water swim competitions.
