Gina Saka

Gina Saka_tnGina has been practicing yoga for over 25 years and has been teaching yoga since 2007. She also has over 20 years of extensive experience in Massage Therapy, Shiatsu and Traditional Chinese Medicine. She brings different aspects to the yoga practice, an awareness of the body's energy channels, a profound understanding of injuries, proper alignment and the emphasis of breath work and meditation. Gina was a life long gym enthusiast and relunctlly took her first yoga class in a gym because of a persistent friend and that was the beginning of her yoga path. She completed the Temple of Kriya Yoga's 200 hour Teacher Training in 2007 with emphasis on alignment, Restorative and Yin.  Completed Yogaview's 200 hour Teacher Training, 2008 under the loving guidance of her teachers, Tom Quinn, Quinn Kearney (she also adjusted in Quinn's Tuesday class in 2011), Claire Mark and Geri Blier. She has also studied with master teachers: Swami Mary Samano, Paul Weitz, Shiva Rae, Lino Miele, Shawn Corn, Natasha Rizopoulos, Ana Forrest, Joyce Englander, Tim Miller, Kim Wilcox, Kino MacGregor and Daylene Christensen. She is a graduate of The Chicago School of Massage Therapy, 1999 and also holds several certifications in Advanced Thai Massage, Shiatsu, Energy Healing, Energy Reading and Meditation. A Lululemon Ambassador for the Halsted Store, 2011. She has also taught several workshops in the Chicago land area such as Thai couples massage, Intro to Thai Bodywork, Thai teqniques for table, Thai partner stretch, Yoga and the 14 Meridians, Arm balances, The Basics of Standing Poses, Inversions, Guided Mediation and Pranayama. Gina's classes are accessible to all levels of students and are lighthearted and fun. Classes are sequenced safely and there will always be variations and modifications offered so that everyone feels they can participate in class. Gina wants her students to know their options and more importantly to know their limits so they can be confident in their practice and just have their own experience in class. Her hope is that students can experience all the benefits that a regular yoga practice can bring to their lives. Gina is both honored and thrilled to be a part of CAC's group fitness community and looks forward to seeing you in class sometime. CAC yogis are truly the best!
