David began taking Hatha Yoga classes In 1981. He completed his teacher training with Suddha Weixler at the Chicago Yoga center in 1995 and has been teaching ever since. Over the years, he has studied many styles of yoga with many teachers, including Ashtanga Yoga with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and Richard Freeman; Ayurveda and Yoga with Scott Blossom; Anusara Yoga with John Friend; Yin Yoga and anatomy with Paul Grilley; Yin and Vinyasa Yoga with Sarah Powers; Yin & Yang Yoga with Paulie Zink; yoga and anatomy with Tias Little and Visesha Vinyasa Krama Yoga with Srivatsa Ramaswami.
David is also always learning new things from his students as well. Everyone approaches yoga with a unique set of physical and emotional needs. With that in mind, he guides his students as they work to strengthen and open themselves within their own capacity. His classes combine soft Yin Yoga, which targets the connective tissues, as well as more active poses that stretch and strengthen the muscles. David also emphasizes the breath and encourages opening the heart and quieting the mind while practicing.
