Priorities

I don't know if you're like me but when I'm completely immersed in something, whether it be work or a hobby or getting fit, I throw myself in head over heels. But for all of our good intentions, sometimes life gets in the way of our fitness goals. Sickness, family emergencies, losing a job... the list goes on and on.

The lesson I've learned in the past month was to respect every aspect of your life. If you don't feel well, don't kill yourself on the treadmill because ultimately you're only going to feel worse. If you need to stay home and just process life, don't feel guilty for camping out on the couch but don't let that guilt you into not coming back.

A short break doesn't have to be a slippery slope. At a certain point, you will walk back through the doors and it'll be like you never left! Don't beat yourself up if you can't make it through an entire Zumba class after being stricken with the flu for two weeks. Don't curse yourself when the amount of time it takes to run a mile on the treadmill is a bit longer than before.

You're on the right path and if you've gone off the rails for awhile, you will get BACK on the right path. Fitness isn't always easy but it is something that is ready when you are.
