Introduction:
Years Climbing: 18
Favorite type of climbing: I enjoy all types of climbing indoor, outdoor, sport, trad, ice, aid, and mountaineering. That said, I love long and somewhat remote Alpine Rock Routes. I find the art of route finding and protecting complex routes to be an interesting challenge. I enjoy the level of commitment involved and the experience of climbing in remote settings.
Favorite climbing areas: Wind River Range, Sintra Portugal, City of Rocks, Jackson Falls, Squamish, RMNP
Any Advice to beginners?: First, allow yourself to try climbing at least 6 times. It is not until the anxiety subsides and you learn something about the synthesis of movement and relaxation that you understand the magic of the sport. Second, remember the 5 F's, focus on the feet, feet, feet, feet.
Specialties:
Shifts/Clubs/Program responsibilities: CAC Climbing Program Director
Statement (climbing philosophy, personal statement, whatever): I think that climbing can be many different things at it different times or all at once, and for me it has evolved through the periods of my life that it has occupied. It can be social engagement, fitness, focused practice in goal attainment, adventure, mediation, multimedia, lifestyle, hobby, challenge, partnership, literary, insane obsession, existential exploration, rebellious and on and on and on.
