Introduction:
Receiving massage affects one on many levels. However, creating more awareness of one's self is perhaps the most important. I hear so often, "I didn't realize how tight I was." Our bodies are very adaptable - sometimes too much so. we accumulate layers of stress from misuse, overuse and emotional response and don't notice until we're at the pain threshold. Receiving regular massage keeps your "baseline" at a healthier more relaxed pace. I think my strength lies in my intent and ability to focus in the moment. Technique is really secondary. I watch, feel and listen to how the client's body is responding to the work. If something isn't changing as expected, I may have the client change positions, try an active myofacial stretch or work with their breath to create release. The right technique is the one that works in the moment for that person.
